25 Days of Christmas-Day 21

Day 21: Your favorite Christmas movie.

Wow this is hard...there are so many.... I guess its a tie...  "Its a wonderful Life' and "Elf' ...but there are a couple runner ups.....' March of the Wooden Soldiers' and ' Christmas in Connecticut' ...

25 Days of Christmas-Day 20

Day 20: All time favorite Christmas present.

Probably one of my favorite gift ever was a diamond name plate my ex boyfriend bought me. It was pretty but the thought behind it meant so much more. One day in the middle of September we were in the mall and i stopped to look at them in a window of a jewelry store. I told him how i had one that i loved and it was stolen at my friends house during a party. I told him how much i missed it..but that was it ..never thought anymore about it ...Well apparently he went back the next day to buy it for me and kept it for Christmas. And when i opened it i actually cried...not because of the material thing but because of the thought behind it.  :)

And they are all men.. haha...but i would have to say my uncle is the hardest because he says he doesnt need anything everytime I ask him what he wants...  Argggh hahaha if he doesnt answer me soon he is getting lotto tickets and booze hahaha

25 days of Christmas- Day 16

Day 16: Your favorite Christmas tradition.

My mom (and my grandmother before her) makes Pizzelles every year. Pizzelles are a traditional Italian waffle cookies made from flour, eggs, sugar, butter and flavoring (often vanilla, anise, and anise seeds). we have a pizzelle maker that looks like a thin waffle maker. It takes my mom hours to do it because she makes so many for friends and family. I love to spend time with her while she makes them. Talking and laughing and taking in the lovely smells of the anise and vanilla. I cant wait to do them this year....  (below is a picture is a pizzelle ...i will post pictures of the pizzelles we do this year next week )

Day 14: Share a previous Christmas memory

One of my favorite Christmas memories is of going to NYC with my father and seeing all the store windows and to the Rockafeller Tree and then he took me to Macys to see Santa. We waited on a very long line but it was all worth it when I was able to see the REAL Santa and I got to tell him what I wanted for Christmas. It was a wonderful day. :)

25 days of Christmas- Day 13

Day 13: 5 things you love about Christmas.

I love the music, the twinkly lights, spending time with my family and friends, watching my favorite Christmas music like Its a wonderful life and Christmas in Connecticut and March of the Wooden soldiers and finally I love the food..haha .

4am. Awake again. Not so unusual for me but tonight mind won't shut off of questions and answers and should I's and shouldn't I's. Thankfully my other friend is up now too and we are playing hangman via facebook hahaha. The hangman has distracted me from getting in trouble. instead I am laying here playing the game and listening to my ipod and hoping sleep will find me or at least shut off my brain. Sleep well my friends :)

25 days of Christmas- Day 10

Day 10: Who spoiled Santa Claus for you?
I hate to say it ...but it was my mom haha....I opened up my Barbie wrist watch and there was a tag from Caldors. I looked at her and said 'why is there a tag"....she tried to say that Santa was extra busy and he asked her to pick up the watch but I didnt believe her then i started asking around and finally found out the truth... it was a bad year...i had chicken pox AND found out about Santa all in one year... hahaha

Love the line :
" Do you break things when you get mad
Eat a box of chocolate cause you're feeling bad
Do you paint your toes cause you bite your nails
And call up mama when all else fails"

My Life Cornucopia

My life Cornucopia

Cornucopia has always been my favorite word. I don't know what it is but this word just makes me happy. Not just the meaning which means horn of plenty but just the mere word itself. It is just fun to say. One of my friends ,Michele, knows this is my favorite word and around this time a year I will undoubtedly get a random call from her where she will just say the word and then laughs and hangs up... we are just goofy like that sometimes . So when I came across the above picture it made me think, what do I want in my Life Cornucopia? what do i want to fill my own Horn of plenty with ? So these are some of the items:

* Laughter. Lots and lots of laughter
* Good Health. for me and all my friends and family
* Security. It would be great not to have to worry about money or struggling
* Forgiveness. I would love the ability to forgive easier. both others and myself
* Travel. I love to travel and would to be able to travel more and to places i have never been before .
* Love. More love is never a bad thing.
* Food. I would love to try new and interesting restaurants and foods. expand my palette
* Friends. I have some great ones but there is always room for more
* Patience. I dont have much so i would love to have a extra supply of it
* Memories. Memories are a great gift and I want to hold on to as many as I can
* Time. a lot of Time with family and friends.time to enjoy the simple things

One of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies "Its a wonderful life" is from a scene where Mary and George are giving gifts to the Martini family when they move into their new home. Mary says to them :

"Bread... that this house may never know hunger. Salt... that life may always have flavor. And wine... that joy and prosperity may reign forever"

So I would like also add Bread, Salt and Wine to my cornucopia for good measure. But ultimately if my horn was just filled with family, friends and love. It would be all I really need. I hope you all have a very Happy thanksgiving and may your cornucopia be overflowing this year and every year following.

Pink Slip for the 'Love choices department' (aka my heart)

(Just a humorous take on what it would be like to fire my heart)

Pink Slip for the 'Love choices department' (aka my heart)

Attention LC Department(heart):
I regret to inform you that you are being terminated from your position starting immediately. This decision was not an easy one for us but we came to this conclusion after a long deliberation. Your record is a long series of bad decisions and it has given us no other choice but to issue you your walking papers.....We just can not jeopardize the company any longer with your senseless , reckless decisions. They might seem like wise choices at the time but they ultimately damage the company as a whole in the end. We have received numerous complaints (in regards to your poor choices) from many of the other departments. The following are some of those complaints:

* Fuel Processing department (aka Stomach)- After each poor decision we are only provided with the following items in which to attempt to produce fuel; chocolate and vodka. We try our best with the resources provided but ultimately it is a losing battle because the sources of fuel end up leaving the way they came in with no chance to save any for fuel.

* Intellectual property dept (aka mind)- "We in the IPD feel that we take the biggest brunt of the fall out due to the poor decisions of the LCD(heart). After each one of the LCD's disaster decisions we are forced to work overtime. Retrieving countless scenarios in which the LCD has made poor choices, flooding the IPD'd memory bank with bad choice after bad choice and the sensory memory board is bombarded with requests of painful memories and sad songs in which to reinforce the above scenarios. Each poor decision recovery time gets longer and longer, in fact this last one it took our programmers 3 days to reboot the system.

* Ocular department (eyes) - We in the OD are also overloaded due to the poor decisions of the LCD. After each poor decision on behalf of the LCD we are flooded here . Our department is subjected to a watery bath which leaves us swollen, puffy, blood shot, and generally unsightly. The floods come and go with no advance warning and no indication on how intense or long they will be. This past poor decision caused the entire department to be flooded for 2 weeks. Something has to be done about the LCD.

So as you can see the complaints about your department were plenty and serious. We know you meant well and were also subject to some deceitful information from possible "investors" but we have given you plenty of chances to wisen up and start making better choices but that does not seem to be happening. Each time you cause more and more damage, leaving gaping holes and making the company even more vulnerable to the vultures that wish to pick us apart. So it is with a heavy heart (no pun intended) that we are asking you to pack up your things. Those things include a stapler, all the knives that you retrieved from the Back's Department but most importantly the feelings you have laying around for the last bad decision( please take those with you, we do not want that lingering around). The Love Choices department will now be integrated with the Intellectual Properties Department. Even though we know the IPD is overwhelmed with other tasks but we see no other choice in this matter. The IPD is far less emotional and will require detailed and validated proof before the next love decision is made. The IPD has stricter guidelines and an extremely rigid security clearance process so we will know that we will not be infiltrated next time by any spies, degenerates or more importantly any IMPOSTERS.
We thank you for your service and hope that you will take this free time to strengthen yourself and Grow and one day if we have a opening come available we will be sure to contact you . I would also like to pass on a favorite quote of mine. I hope it will help you in your future travels.

"The stupid neither forgive nor forget; the naive forgive and forget; the wise forgive but do not forget" ~ Thomas S Szasz

My hope for you is that you be neither stupid or naive in the future. God speed.

my night with 3 Doors Down

There are not many times in your life when a reality will be better then your fantasy...BUT last night was one such time!! any expectations that I had about seeing 3 doors down live could not compare to what felt like to see them...THEY WERE AMAZING!!!! They played for almost 2 hours and the energy never stopped from the first song to the last. They seem like they sincerely love what they do and love their fans...after the encore they stood on the stage and threw out sticks and picks and bent down to take pictures with people. It took them a long time to leave the stage and I really felt like they didnt want to leave. Here are some pictures from last night :

happy dance

couple clips that close to the Happy Dance i am doing now.. We have power!!! woo hoo....

Stay warm to anyone that doesn't have power!!!

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

(this is me hahahaha)

Ok ok...not exactly the arctic but it sure feels like that when you are sleeping in a house with no electric or heat. On sat around 4p we lost power and as of today, Tues at 2:22pm we still dont have it back. In fact they are not sure when we should get it back. So I am in a library now for heat, internet access, a power plug to charge my phone and for some human contact, even if it IS only a half smile to the person sitting across me at the table. In this time with no electric I have had to do the following this to get by or to just amuse myself....hope you enjoy them :

1. I had to sleep with 2 sweatshirts, 2 pairs of socks, sweatpants all under 3 thick blankets and I topped it off with a lovely camouflage fleece hat. I was totally prepared for the cold temperatures and for any lone deers that might trample through my bedroom hahah

2. I had to heat water so i could wash my hair and body. The warm water was a lovely contrast from the ice cold water that was running from faucet. It was so lovely in fact that i totally forgot the fact that I standing in front of my kitchen window in my 'unmentionables' for the whole world to see....oh well...

3. I fought for the one lone electrical plug left at Barnes and noble. Myself and 100 other people witout power had invaded the unprepared book store and proceeded to suck them dry of all their power. Charging our laptops, cell phones, ipads, ipods and I even saw one person charging their electric toothbrush...REALLY? (i think to myself as I plug in and see the battery light brighten before my eyes....ahhhhhhhhhh I GOT THE POWER!!!!

4.We have eaten at every fast food joint in the area that has power. Right now i am actually craving a nice healthy salad since i am sooooo sick of fast food. What will tonights meal be??? well i can tell you it will NOT be Mcdonalds. They have hung a sign that they are out of food. OUT OF FOOD???? OMG the world is ending hahaha

5. I have read some of my book by candlelight, Listened to my iPod, stared at the flickering candles for 2 hours straight, i have taken a countless number of pictures of my puppy curled against me for heat and I have eaten way too much left over Halloween candy.
and that was just LAST night...i swear i will go insane tonight for sure haha....

All of that being said, I am keeping hope that we will get power soon and I am grateful to have a home with blankets, a non electric stove so we can at least still make soup and hot tea and mostly I am grateful have this nice warm library right down... God Bless you library System and your free wifi :)

Feast of San Gennaro

I recently went to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy in NYC. If you are not from the NY area then I should explain that the Feast is an 11 day street fair held every year in honor of the Patron Saint San Gennaro where they have vendors selling everything from Sausage and pepper to seafood to pastries. If you are not from the area but are planning a trip the the city then try and schedule it around the feast so you can enjoy it...if you ARE from the NY area and have never been there, then shame on you haha... The pictures below are some of the food we had and the sights we saw. FYI the food shown was not all consumed by fact one of the guys ate 14 different items...(i dont even know how he ate it all :) ..I hope you enjoy it!!!!

Sausage and peppers...yum :)
