My mom (and my grandmother before her) makes Pizzelles every year. Pizzelles are a traditional Italian waffle cookies made from flour, eggs, sugar, butter and flavoring (often vanilla, anise,and anise seeds). we have a pizzelle maker that looks like a thin waffle maker. It takes my mom hours to do it because she makes so many for friends and family. I love to spend time with her while she makes them. Talking and laughing and taking in the lovely smells of the anise and vanilla. I cant wait to do them this year....
