MIDNIGHT

GBE Week # 9 Topic : MIDNIGHT (for those paying close attention i was a slacker and skipped week # 8 hahaha)

The topic this week for the GBE2 (group blogging experience) was MIDNIGHT. This scene was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard the word MIDNIGHT. This is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time and it just happens to take place on New years eve at Midnight. I have seen this movie countless times and every time its the same thing: my eyes wide and locked on this scene, a small soft smile creeps on my lips and I hold my breath as I watch billy crystal do what every girl dreams of....he makes THE GRAND GESTURE! In more times in my life than I can count, I have dreamt of being on the receiving end of the GRAND GESTURE. The grand gesture is a preferably public profession of a guys undying love despite all odds and obstacles while making the girl feel that he has never loved anyone like her, will never love anyone again like her and will do anything to win her love, then ending with an extremely passionate kiss. This scene is one of the finest examples of the grand gesture and of a happy ending, Both of which (based on my past experiences) are like a winning lotto ticket;beautiful to think and dream about but it probably wont ever happen to you in your lifetime. But even with my all cynicism toward love and the possibility of ever receiving the grand gesture, i will continue to watch this movie over and over. Every time waiting for this scene, watching it like its the first time Ive ever seen it and secretly hoping and praying that MY Mr Right will someday come make his grand gesture on one lonely MIDNIGHT!

  1. That is so sweet. I haven't seen this movie yet, however, if you go to funnyordie.com, you can see when Harry met Sally 2. It's just a funny skit.

Watching this video, now I should add it to my queue. LOL.

I believe you will meet Mr. Right soon. =D

I also skipped last week's blog. LOL

  6. That is a great scene, but I must confess, I like the scene in the restaurant better. "I'll have what she's having." ;)

  11. I'm sure that dreams of 'the grand gesture' are one reason why women like romantic films and novels where things like this really do happen.
But hope your dream comes true in real life too!

  12. Love the way you tell us your story, your dream and your certainty that it won't happen! LOL

I gotta say this though, you have to know that your GRAND GESTURE incident may not be quite like the movie! Mine was very different, but very perfectly done by a less than perfect human who happens to be perfect for me.

He was leaving my house at 5am and turned to look deeply and sleepily into my eyes and said, "I think we should get married so I can get some sleep." It worked for me and we've been sleeping together since 1982. It was a GRAND GESTURE coming from a man who never wanted to marry again to a woman who wasn't remotely interested in marrying again.

  17. I like this movie - I think the best partners began as best friends and this movie pretty much follows that thought. I have no dreams of ever finding someone again, though. I rather like not having to look after anyone but myself and my cats. LOL

  18. I had my "grand gesture" many, many years ago. Now, I'm with SJerZGirl... If I outlive my husband, I certainly won't be looking for another. My little dogs and cats will be just fine company for me!

  23. I love a happy ending, but I've long since learned that you only get those if you make it happen. I also learned that happy endings aren't like the movies. My happy endings come from small gestures, not grand ones. From endurance, and learning and patience.
Great post, and I'm sure your happy endings will come, in ways you can't yet know :)
